Kamo High School was founded in 1960. The school offers a curriculum in a supportive learning environment. The school is very well equipped with modern, specialized facilities in all areas of art, sports and phys ed, technology, science and general facilities. With over 1200 students, the high school is located on a 9 hectare campus, approx. 30 minutes from the nearest beach.

Kamo High School is located in the port city of Whangarei, Bay of Islands New Zealand. . The area has dreamy beaches and a pleasant, slightly subtropical climate. The northern tip of New Zealand is known for its "Ninety Miles Beach" and in addition there are excellent water sports opportunities.
School Facilities
Special facilities exist for the teaching of Computing, Horticulture, Hospitality, Media Studies, and Technology. There are well-equipped Science laboratories, two Gymnasiums, Swimming Pool, Astro-turf (four tennis courts), Library, Music Suite with Digital Recording studio, Stationery Shop, Canteen, four major sports fields, a Wharenui and an Arts Centre which provides modern facilities for Art, Art Design, Photography, Performing Arts, Dance and Music.
